Sustainability

The Australian Panels’ Oberon site has various recycling efforts in place, reducing carbon emissions and diverting waste from landfill. Significantly, Australian Panels have been investing in solar power since 2018. Over the last 2 years the company has installed over 53,000 solar panels across its network of facilities, thereby becoming more energy efficient and avoiding 10,500 tonnes of Co2 emissions per year. The Oberon site alone has 27,000 solar panels and is the largest rooftop solar system in Australia to date, capable of generating 10 megawatts of energy.

The collection of dust, bark and waste biomass produces fuel to power manufacturing plants, whilst MDF board offcuts are repurposed into pallets and bearers to generate packaging from waste materials.

Raw board products are manufactured from sustainably grown pine, sourced through Plantation Pine Products. Plantation Pine Products offer full-service bespoke forestry management services. From leasing and buying land, purchasing of trees, logs and residues, transportation, plantation management and harvesting. Plantation Pine Products is highly aligned with sustainability and has adapted vertical integration through the association with Borg into every aspect of the business. Not only is this cost effective and allows for affordable products and services, vertical integration also benefits the environment. Ensuring the production of the highest quality product in the most cost-effective manufacturing processes is integral to Borg’s intent of delivering superior value to its customers.

Manufacturing and automation solutions to enhance the above processes are curated by Crossmuller, who specialise in the design and development of world-class manufacturing facilities.
